Bucharest interim mayor, dismissed from office

25 November 2015

Bucharest’s interim mayor Stefanel Marin was dismissed yesterday from his office, following the vote of the general councilors.

The man took over the office two months ago, when the former mayor Sorin Oprescu came under the investigation of the National Anticorruption Prosecutors for charges of bribery, money laundering, abuse of office and setting up an organized criminal group.

The National Liberal Party Bucharest has decided to initiate the dismissal of the interim mayor, said Marius Vintila, vice-president PNL Bucharest, reports local Digi24.

PNL general councilor Alexandru Ionescu said that Stefanel Marin lacked initiative in solving the problems faced by Bucharest’s Public Transport Company RATB and the capital’s thermal energy supplier RADET.
