Bucharest Emergency Hospital gets EUR 0.8 mln intensive care unit revamp, but still needs beds

intensive care ward

A new Intensive Care and Anesthesiology ward recently opened within the Bucharest Emergency University Hospital, following investments of some EUR 800,000, on a budget from the Health Ministry. However, the new ward needs more money to become functional, as it still lacks beds and monitors. The funds allotted should increase this year, with more money coming from the 2013 budget, which should cover the cost of the 20 beds and monitors.

Other additions to the Bucharest Emergency University Hospital are expected in the near future: five sterile rooms for the hematology clinic should be ready within a month, fueled by donations raised by the Save Lives Association (Salveaza Vieti). However, the clinic needs more money to connect it to the water and electricity supplies. The ministry would also like to invest in a radiotherapy bunker, which would turn the hospital into the first regional emergency hospital in Romania. The Bucharest Emergency University Hospital is located in the Eroilor area, close to the metro exit.
