Bucharest – Brasov charity walk held in memory of Romanian rugby player
A Bucharest – Brasov 170 -kilometer memorial walk will be organized from September 28, over five days. The Alex Gradinaru Memorial Walk is being held in memory of 19-year old rugby player Alex Gradinaru, from Brasov, who has died from spinal injuries.
Martin Dixon, the editor of Ex-Pat magazine, will do the walk from Bucharest to Brasov and others are welcomed to join. This year Martin will be accompanied by two Romanians, Istvan Balint from Miercurea Ciuc, the general manager of the Gyopar Club Hotel and Conference Centre,Oroshaza, Hungary, and Alexandru Benga, a former martial arts practitioner from Bucharest. Martin Dixon is planning to do this walk in the next three years as well.
A welcome back party will be organized for the walkers on October 3 at the James Joyce Irish Pub in Bucharest. This memorial walk is organized by the charity Asociatia Prietenii Rugby-ului Romanesc (The Association Friends of Romanian Rugby).
