Romanian app offering savings of 40-80% on food expands to Cluj-Napoca

15 April 2022

Romanian eco startup bonapp.eco, which launched an app offering savings of 40-80% on food, has recently expanded to Cluj-Napoca. It has affiliated 30 partners in the major Transylvanian city, including grocery stores, restaurants, bakeries, and coffee shops.

Some of the first partners of bonapp.eco's network in Cluj-Napoca are Glovo, Noodle Pack, Donuterie, Cora, Penny Romania, Starbucks, Narcoffee Roasters, Shanghai, Lemnul Verde, as well as independent outlets.

Through the mobile application, users can buy products approaching their expiration date at a discount of 40% to 80%. Consumers can purchase items directly from the app, which is available on iOS and Android.

"With a population of over 300,000, Cluj-Napoca has always been top of our minds for expansion. In addition to its favorable demographics, Cluj-Napoca offers a promising cultural fit for bonapp.eco. The city enjoys a significant business hub and a flourishing startup ecosystem, with young, urban and educated people who share our eco-friendly values. Thanks to this ideal environment and with the support of our newly-recruited team in Cluj, we are confident we will reach our target, which is to affiliate 400 local partners and sell 10,000 boxes locally by the end of the year," said Grégoire Vigroux, co-founder of bonapp.eco.

bonapp.eco was launched in November 2021 and just two months later raised a seed investment of EUR 800,000 to expand beyond Bucharest. The company is currently hiring sales teams, as well as City Managers in Timisoara, Iasi, Brasov, and Oradea.

Since its launch in Bucharest, bonapp.eco has affiliated over 150 commercial partners. Its mobile app has been downloaded by over 30,000 users and generated sales of 4,000 boxes.

Earlier this month, the Romanian startup also announced that it partnered with Yves Rocher to combat waste in cosmetics retail.
