Almost half of Romania under a yellow alert for extremely cold weather

The meteorologists had already announced on Monday, January 18, that the weather would be extremely cold in Romania this week, but on Tuesday they’ve decided to place 19 counties under a yellow alert for very cold weather.

The temperatures will drop significantly these days, and can even go down to minus 25 degrees Celsius in some areas. The alert is valid between January 19, 18:00, and January 21, 10:00. However, the weather is to remain cold until January 26.

The counties targeted by this alert are Braila, Ialomita, Calarasi, Giurgiu, Ilfov (including Bucharest), Buzau, Covasna, Harghita, Prahova, Brasov, Dambovita, Teleorman, Arges, Sibiu, Olt, Valcea, Gorj, Dolj, and Mehedinti.
