300 business leaders to talk about turning Romania into top economy during summit next year

Some of the most important companies in Romania’s leaders, economists, and speakers invited from abroad will talk about what can be done to turn Romania into a top economy, during the two-day Romanian Business Leaders’ Summit in February next year, according to the Romanian Business Leaders Foundation.

The event will try to explore the segments that can change Romania in a top economy and about 300 business leaders are  expected to participate. Political party representatives in Romania will also be present at the summit.

The Romanian Business Leaders Foundation is managed by a board made of Ioana Filipescu, managing director of Raiffeisen Investment România, Anca Harasim, executive director of the AmCham, Mihaela Perianu, CEO of AIMS Human Capital Bucharest, Andreea Rosca - former journalist, Sorin Axinte - senior partner with Glue Bucharest, Lucian Butnaru - former CEO of TechTeam, Catalin Dima - entrepreneur, former head of Corporate Affairs with Romtelecom, Dragos Dinu - entrepreneur, former head of A&D Pharma, Mihail Marcu, CEO of MedLife and Dan Pascariu, head of the surveillance council with UniCredit Tiriac Bank.

About 70 percent of the Romanians think that Romania is not a country in which honest people can have success in business, while 60 percent say that the current businessman in Romania are not honest, according to a study conducted in August this year by the Romanian Business Leaders Foundation. Moreover, 86 percent of the Romanian people think that they can’t change anything in Romania in the next 3 years, while 87 percent think that the businessman should involve more in the important problems in the Romania, even if 7 Romanians out of 10 say that the Romanian businessman are not united.

The final document of the summit to be held next year will include an action plan to bring Romania’s economy at a higher level, to stabilize the Romanian business environment. The teams composed of participants to the summit will try to meet the objectives settled during the event, until the next Romanian Business Leaders’ Summit to be held in 2013.
