Over 130,000 tourists spend EUR 7.5 million during mini holiday in Romania
Over 130,000 tourists have spent EUR 7.5 million during the Pentecost mini holiday, according to a survey from the Federation of Romanian Tourism Employers (FPTR).
More than 50,000 Romanians chose the seaside during this period, spending some EUR 3 million. The most crowded resorts were Mamaia and Navodari, located in the north of the Romanian seaside. Vama Veche was also a popular resort.
Some 45,000 people decided to spend their short holiday in guesthouses throughout the country, according to FPTR.
This year, public sector employees in Romania had a five-day holiday between June 1 and June 5. The Government passed a decision to declare Friday, June 2, a free day for state employees in order to link June 1 to June 5.
June 1, the International Children’s Day, is a legal non-working day in Romania, whereas the second day of Pentecost, which is also a legal day off in Romania, fell on Monday, June 5.
