Telecom group UPC Romania sees 7% turnover growth in Q3

Telecom operator UPC Romania recorded revenues of RON 184 million (EUR 40 million) in the third quarter of this year, up by 6.5% compared to the same period in 2016 due to the increase in the number of customers.

The cable company continued to expand its fixed network, with the number of households covered exceeding 3 million for the first time. It added 67,300 new households between July and September.

UPC is the second largest player on Romania’s cable TV market and the third biggest fixed internet provider. The company had over 568,000 fixed internet clients at the end of September 2017, up 8% over the same month of 2016. Over 663,000 clients had digital television services, up 5% year-on-year. The fixed voice services segment also went up by 16%, reaching 519,000 clients.

US cable operator Liberty Global owns the company.
