This year's first weekend at the seaside: Thousands to hit Romanian beaches on May 1

20 April 2015

Over 35,000 tourists are expected to choose the Romanian seaside for the May 1 mini-break this year, Mamaia remaining the most popular destination, according to Corina Martin, president of the Litoral-Delta Dunarii Association.

Moreover, some hotels are already fully booked, reports local Mediafax.

Several events are to be organized between May 1 and May 3 at the seaside, including a vintage car parade of vintage cars, motorcycles and racing cars and an info trip for travel agents and journalists from Turkey and Italy.

The prices for this year’s May 1 mini-break range between RON 60 (EUR 14) and RON 150 (EUR 34) per person per night, depending on the hotels' ratings.

This summer, the Romanian seaside will welcome 4,500 Israeli tourists who are expected to spend over EUR 3 million, said Corina Martin.

Some 90,000 Romanians spent the May 1 mini-break in the country last year. They spent around RON 50 million (EUR 11.2 million) on accommodation, food and entertainment.
