Romanian state-owned airline sees major problems on international flights

04 December 2017

Romanian state-owned airline Tarom has seen new problems on international flights over the weekend.

On Saturday, December 2, 120 passengers of a Tarom flight were stuck at the Amsterdam airport for over 12 hours because of a technical problem of the aircraft that had to bring them to Romania. Tarom sent another aircraft on Sunday morning to bring them to Romania, but at least six passengers were left at the airport.

The airline set up a crisis cell to analyze the incident and find solutions to recover the forgotten passengers. The company also decided to revoke its representative in Amsterdam.

Another incident occurred on Sunday, when the passengers of a Tarom flight from Frankfurt to Bucharest had to wait about four hours aboard the plane before taking off due to the weather and the de-icing procedures.

Tarom has been involved in several other incidents this year. The most notorious was the cancelation of a flight from Brussels to Bucharest which also had several Romanian state officials among its passengers, in November. The Government has changed four managers in three months.
