Study: 22 online publishers make EUR 21.7 mln from advertising in 2011

05 June 2012

The Romanian online advertising market was of EUR 21.7 million on 2011, 7 percent higher than the year before, according to the Romanian Online Advertising Study, issued by IAB Romania and PwC Romania. The value of the market reflects the net revenues, as billed by 22 publishers who sell advertising directly to clients or to media houses and who responded to the study.

Telecom advertisers brought the bulk of revenues for telecom publishers, followed by banking and finance and the auto segment. The study included 1,400 websites represented by 22 publishers.

“Given that the media market faces a difficult situation, despite the drop in number of print publications, which should have led to increasing revenues for the online, the online advertising market still registered a 7 percent increase in 2011. The pace of development could be seen as moderate. But if we compare it to 2007, the first year when PwC did the ROADS study, we can see that the annual market increase was of 21.2 percent, making the online advertising market one of the sectors with the higher increase rate in these five years,”said Ruxandra Băndilă, director of marketing and communication and business development with PwC Romania.
