RO gym chain Stay Fit Gym acquires two fitness centers in Pitești

05 May 2022

Gym chain Stay Fit Gym has taken over two fitness centers owned by Gym District in Pitești, in southern Romania.

This is the second takeover announced by Stay Fit Gym after the one of Neby Fitness, a center in the Piața Domenii area of Bucharest. The transaction marks the start of the company's national expansion.

The two centers purchased by the company are located in the Trivale shopping center and in the neighborhood of Gavana. The Trivale location, of 1,600 sqm, is the largest in the city. The second center has an area of 1,000 sqm.

Following the transaction, Stay Fit Gym will take over a customer base of approximately 1,400 members. The company's goal is to double this number by the end of this year.

The fitness centers will undergo renovation in the next period. However, throughout the works, one of the venues will always remain open so that members have a place to train. Renovation works will focus on equipment replacement, locker room renovation, and the integration of the center into the Stay Fit Gym design. The total value of the investments is of approximately RON 2 million (EUR 400,000).

For 2022, the company aims for revenues of more than RON 15 million (EUR 3 million) and the inauguration of ten fitness centers in Bucharest and in cities with more than 100,000 inhabitants. Stay Fit Gym is currently in talks to take over fitness clubs in major cities of Romania, it said.

At the end of 2021, the private equity fund Morphosis Capital became the company's shareholder. The partnership between the two entities envisages the expansion of Stay Fit Gym at the national level.

Stay Fit Gym, founded in 2012 by three Romanian entrepreneurs - Alexandru Lascăr (CEO), Marius Preodișteanu (Head of Expansion), and Laurențiu Lascăr (Operational Director), is currently the second-largest fitness chain in Romania by the number of open centers. The company operates 12 centers in Bucharest and Pitesti.
