Some 140,000 Romanians went to Austria for the winter holidays

Austria was visited by 16.9 million tourists between November 2013 and end-April 2014, out of which 140,000 were Romanians, according to data from the Austrian National Tourist Office.

Out of the 140,000 Romanian tourists, some 61,700 visited Vienna last winter. Other popular destinations for Romanians were Tirol, which was visited by 26,800 tourists and Land Salzburg - 16,800. Over 64 percent of Romanian tourists traveling to Austria chose this destination in the winter season.

From the total of 16.9 million tourists that travelled to Austria between November 2013 and April 2014, 5.5 million were from Germany, 950,000 from the Netherlands and 560,000 from Switzerland.

Austria's total revenues from tourism in the 2013/2014 winter season exceeded EUR 11 billion. The most popular destination was Vienna, which was visited by 2.6 million tourists.
