Romanian tennis player Simona Halep hast set winning the US Open Grand Slam tournament as her next target, according to her coach, Belgian Wim Fissette.

Halep, who recently won the Bucharest Open, her eighth title in a WTA tournament, is yet to win a Grand Slam tournament. She was closest to it in the Roland Garros French Open, in June this year, where she lost the final to Russia’s Maria Sharapova. In Wimbledon, she stopped in the semi-finals due to an injury.

“Our objective is to win US Open. Simona was close in Paris and in Wimbledon. We will try to make her a better player. It’s all about the details. I’m sure that a Grand Slam title will come this year or, if not, next year,” said Wim Fissette, quoted by sports television Digi Sport.

The most important tournament won by Halep so far is the Quatar Open in Doha, a Premier Five tournament. Halep is currently number 3 in the WTA ranking.
