Romania’s Halep, against Sharapova and Williams for WTA May Player of the Month - where to cast your vote

Romanian tennis player Simona Halep, runner up in the recent Roland Garros – French Open tournament, is one of the three female tennis player in the race for the title May’s Player of the Month by WTA.

UPDATE: Majority of fans choose Romania’s Halep as tennis player of May, but WTA goes with Sharapova

Ranking third WTA, the 22-year old Romanian is against Maria Sharapova, which defeated Halep in the French Open final, and against Serena Williams, who is number 1 WTA, and the best tennis player in the world.

The vote is open to anyone who wants to support either of the three tennis players. Votes can be submitted until Thursday, June 12, 11:59pm ET. The winner will be announced Friday, June 13.

“Halep proved she is here to stay after an excellent month,” according to the WTA representatives.  She reached the two biggest finals of her career: her first WTA Premier Mandatory final in Madrid and then her first Grand Slam final at Roland Garros. The Romanian recorded four Top 20 wins, against Sabine Lisicki, Ana Ivanovic, Petra Kvitova and Sloane Stephens, before falling to Maria Sharapova in both finals.
