Romania's Competition Council extends investigation in timber market

01 March 2016

Romania’s Competition Council has extended the investigation started in the local timber market and has carried out new searches at the headquarters of six companies. These include Holzindustrie Schweighofer, Egger Romania, Kronospan Sebes, Silva Logistic Services, Alredia, and Lacul Codrilor.

The Council has found new indications of possible agreements for splitting the market, including the lumber supply sources and fixing the prices in the auctions organized by state company Romsilva.

At the beginning of February, the Competition Council has started an investigation on possible anti-competitive agreements in the domestic timber market.
