Romanians choose expensive hotels for the New Year’s Eve

14 November 2014

Romanians don’t look for cheap offers for the New Year’s Eve and mainly choose expensive four-star hotels, both in Romania and abroad, according to Alin Burcea, owner of Paralela 45 travel agency, cited by local Mediafax.

This is a different trend than during the summer when Romanians are mainly looking for special offers and cheap packages.

According to Burcea, even if they are looking for four-star holidays, only few thousand Romanians can afford packages for exotic destinations, of EUR 2,500 – EUR 3,500. The exotic New Year’s Eve packages of EUR 5,000 are selling even harder, only few hundred Romanians being able to buy them.

Established in 1990, Paralela 45 is one of the largest travel agencies in Romania. It ended 2013 with a turnover of 35 million and estimates higher sales for this year, of EUR 40 million.
