Romanians can use ZebraPay terminals to pay traffic tickets

07 October 2014

ZebraPay, which operates payment terminals across Romania, has introduced the option to pay traffic tickets via its devices. There are over 900 such devices where Romanians can pay their tickets in any day of the week, at every hour, without paying extra fees.

Drivers will no longer have to send proof of payment to the respective police stations, as this information will already be included in a report received daily by the Directorate of Taxes.

“Over 3 million traffic tickets are handed in Romania every year, but only 40% of them are collected. One reason might be the complicated payment process,” said Adrian Badea, CEO ZebraPay, cited by local Wall-street.ro. He believes it will be easier for the drivers to stay within the 48-hour deadline to pay half of the minimum fine, which might motivate them to pay the fine.
