Romanian telecom regulator doubles the number of stations that monitor radio-TV antenna radiations

27 April 2017

Amid the increasing number of radio-TV and mobile telecommunication antennas, Romania’s communications authority ANCOM launched an action for the purchase of 50 stations for monitoring the electrical radiation generated by these antennas, as well as power lines. The estimated value of this purchase is RON 3.5 million (EUR 770,000), excluding VAT.

“The need to extend the existing monitoring system of electrical radiation is determined by the interest that the population of Romania is currently showing towards the fact that the increasing number of mobile telephony antennas and other transmitters used in radio communication services (radio-TV stations, stations of taxi companies, stations of different public service companies, etc.) could affect their health,” the tender specifications show, reports local Profit.ro.

ANCOM currently operates an autonomous monitoring system consisting of 50 stations for monitoring electrical radiations on the long term.

The deadline for submitting offers is June 8. The equipment will be delivered in 150 days from the moment the contract is awarded. The auction’s winner will train 10 ANCOM employees in using the equipment and operating the related software.
