Romanian railway company CFR appoints new general manager

Marius Chiper took over as interim general manager of Romania's state-owned railway company CFR.

The Board of Directors appointed him on December 8 to coordinate the company’s activity until the selection procedure for a new general manager is completed.

Chiper, who is an engineer, has an experience of over 21 years in the railway sector.

The new Transport Minister Dan Costescu was general manager of CFR starting March 2, this year. His position remained vacant after Prime Minister Dacian Ciolos appointed him to lead the Transport Ministry.

CFR operates Romania’s railway network while CFR Marfa and CFR Calatori are the country’s biggest railway freight and passenger carriers.
