Minister wants Romanian Post’s management to resign

12 September 2017

The Romanian Post’s management should resign, including the company’s interim general manager Andrei Stanescu, said Communications Minister Lucian Sova yesterday, invoking the bad management in the last year.

The minister also sent the Communication Ministry’s Control Body to the postal operator. The inspectors will verify if the Romanian Post had taken the measures asked by the Competition Council.

In 2015, the state-owned postal operator saw losses of EUR 7.4 million because of a fine from the Competition Council. The Communications Ministry takes these measures in order to implement a strategic recovery plan drawn up in the last two months, according to a Ministry press release.

The Communications Ministry owns a stake of 75% in the national postal operator whereas the investment fund Fondul Proprietatea has a 25% stake.
