Romanian photo equipment retailer F64 to start accepting Bitcoin payments

02 October 2014

Romanian photo and video equipment retailer F64 will start accepting Bitcoin payments by the end of this year, becoming the first large online retailer to introduce this kind of payment.

“We want to implement Bitcoin payment by the end of this year. We’re already in talks and we estimate that we’ll manage to make this payment system operational before the winter holidays,” said Marian Alecsiu, CEO F64, quoted by local Wall-street.ro.

He also said, at the Wall-Street 360 online show, that Romanians still prefer cash payments, instead of online or card payments. “In our case, card payments, both via POS and online, amount to no more than 20%,” said Alecsiu.

Romanians trade EUR 1.3 mln worth of Bitcoins in less than a year.
