Romanian journalists, shortlisted for European Press Prize

Journalists from the investigative reporting network RISE Project Romania and Moldova are among the finalists for the European Press Prize, for the investigation 'The Assassins' Network'. Journalists from Reuters, Der Spiegel and Suddeutsche Zeitung were also nominated in the same category.

Journalists Paul Radu, Mihai Munteanu, Luke Harding, Ion Preașcă, Iurie Sănduță and Cristi Ciupercă were nominated from RISE Project for this award. Their investigation “The Assassins' Network” uncovers the murders or attempted murders in London, Bucharest, Bacau and in the Republic of Moldova, which appear to be done by the same group of professional assassins. The winners of the European Press Prize will be publicly announced in London during the award ceremony on March 17. Romanian Stefan Candea from the Romanian Centre for Investigative Journalism was also shortlisted for the Innovation Award.

Founded in 2012, Rise Project is an investigative network covering the hidden connections between criminal organizations, politicians, and businesses, in Romania and the region. It is supported by a group of volunteer journalists, computer programmers and activists.
