Romanian insurers Omniasig and Generali estimate EUR 800,000 damage claims after floods

Romanian insurance company Omniasig estimates that it will pay total damages of EUR 0.7 million after the recent flooding in the country, according to Ziarul Financiar.

The company, which is owned by Austrian group Vienna Insurance Group, has paid almost EUR 40,000 in the last three months to people who lost their homes due to flooding. The company said it has received 500 damage claims so far.

Generali Romania also said it set aside EUR 100,000 to cover the 44 damage claims that were issued following the recent floods in Southern Romania, according to Wall-Street.ro.

Hundreds of homes have been destroyed or partially damaged due to floods this week.
