Romanian football agents Ioan Becali, Victor Becali, and local investor Cristi Borcea, a former shareholder of the Dinamo Bucharest football team have been indicted for bribing local judge Geanina Terceanu to help them with a favorable sentence in an illegal player transfer case.

In February 2009, Geanina Terceanu was assigned to judge the case in which Ioan Becali, Victor Becali and Cristian Borcea were indicted for fraud and tax evasion. The illegal player transfers they had handled caused a USD 1.5 million damage to the state and over USD 10 million damages to the clubs involved in the transactions, according to Romania’s National Anticorruption Directorate (DNA), which prosecuted the case.

In April 2012, Terceanu acquitted the defendants, arguing that the deed had not existed. The anticorruption prosecutors found that the judge received a total bribe of EUR 195,000 during this period from the defendants.
