Romanian Elena Udrea turns Tourism Ministry handover into a final curtain call

Former Development and Tourism Minister Elena Udrea, who received plenty of attention from both local and international press during her three-year mandate, said she  signed EU-funded contracts worth EUR 5 billion, when handing over the helm of the ministry to her successor, Cristian Petrescu. Udrea, who is also the vice-president of the governing party the Liberal Democratic Party (PDL), mentioned among the ministry's completed projects water and sewage for 800 km of local roads, revamped blocks of flats totaling 47,000 of apartments and 4,000 housing units for the youth.

She said she "Had the chance to be a minister during an extremely tough period for Romania, when the country faced challenged and the Emil Boc Government had to take tough decisions.”
