The net average wage in Romania grew by 7.6 percent in December 2011 compared to the previous month, to RON 1,604 ( EUR 370 ), according to National Statistics Institute (INS). The gross nominal average earning was RON 2,209 ( EUR 510 ). Compared to the same month in 2010, the net average wage increased by 7.2 percent in December last year.

The most significant increases in average net incomes in Romania were recorded in pharmaceutical products manufacturing - up 27.1 percent, and telecommunications - up 23.4 percent.

Compared to July 2010, when the 25 percent cut was applied to public sector gross basic salaries as a reform measure, the average net earnings in December 2011 increased by 21.1 percent in health and social assistance, 14.2 percent in education, and 12.3 in public administration, according to the INS.
