Romania presents climate change policies in June 2015

19 December 2014

Romania's initiatives on climate change will be evaluated at the United Nations meeting in Bonn in June 2015. Romania must present the specific climate policies and the measures undertaken, as well as its future climate targets.

"The European environmental policy does not necessarily mean the pollution tax on motor vehicles, but rather a concrete plan to reduce the industry pollution, to recycle waste and increase the forest area, that's where we are deficient," said Casiana Fometescu, director at the consultancy group Carbon Expert and consultant at the UN Convention on Climate Change in Copenhagen, cited by local Dailybusiness.ro.

"Romania does not yet afford to contribute to the Green Climate Fund budget, as it has to invest a lot in its own economy to reach the targets set by the EU," added Fometescu.
