Romania buys more military gear

State-owned Romtehnica, the company that handles the Romanian Army’s purchases, bought another EUR 50 million worth of military equipment from German and American companies this week.

The company bought an air defense radar from American group Lockheed Martin for USD 32.7 million (some EUR 30 million) and anti-tank missiles from the German-Israeli consortium Eurospike worth EUR 20 million. The purchases were announced earlier this week.

Last week, Romtehnica announced that it had bought military equipment worth EUR 110 million from Eurospike.

The Romanian Army also bought four drones from American producer UAV Solutions this month. The contract’s value hasn’t been made public yet.
