Romania’s National Company for Highways (CNADNR) will pay a joint Romanian-Italian venture EUR 21.2 million to modernize an 11.6-km segment of the National Road DN5, between Bucharest and Adunatii Copaceni, reports local Mediafax.

The initial contract for this project had been signed with Romanian road builder Romstrade, now insolvent, and was terminated two years ago.

The Italian-Romanian joint venture Filiala Aninoasa - Aleandri - Beozzo Costruzioni - Smart Building Project won the contract through an open tender. The contract is aimed at modernizing the DN5 Bucharest - Giurgiu road, for providing the basic infrastructure needed by the growing transport demand at the Bulgarian border.
