Retailers in Romania get ready for Black Friday

13 November 2015

This year’s edition of the Black Friday shopping event in Romania will start on November 20, one week before the official Black Friday in the US, which is on November 27. However, most retailers will have discount campaigns on both weekends.

Electro-IT retailer Altex has announced the longest Black Friday discount campaign, of 32 days, between October 30 and November 30, to avoid people crowding in the stores, reports local Mediafax.

Most of the big retailers in the market will join the campaign, including online retailers eMAG, Elefant, EvoMag, Quickmobile, and F64, electro-ITs retailers Flanco and Domo, and hypermarket chain Carrefour, among many others. Online retailers are the most active during this period.

Electronics and appliances are the most hunted products by shoppers on Black Friday, with Smart TVs, washing machines, fridges, and smartphones among the best-selling products.

The Black Friday concept was imported in Romania by eMAG and Flanco in 2011 and became bigger each year. It was eMAG and Flanco who also reported the biggest Black Friday sales last year. eMAG sold products worth some EUR 37 million while Flanco’s sales totaled EUR 22 million.
