Retailer Profi recorded a net turnover of RON 1.45 billion (some EUR 329 million) in 2013, up 26 percent year-on-year.

“The operating profit before amortization increased by 49 percent compared to 2012, despite the difficult economic environment in Romania,” said Dumitru Dragomir, the financial director of Profi stores, cited by local Economica.net.

Last year, Profi opened 63 new stores and plans to continue the expansion this year.

With over 5,500 employees and 228 stores in 116 cities, Profi is the second largest retailer in Romania.

Earlier this month, the retailer opened its first modular store in Romania.
