Samsung’s new Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge smartphones, which launched on the local market last week will be the best selling smartphones in Romania, according to the company’s estimates.

The number of pre-orders for the new models has been three times higher compared to the pre-orders for the previous models launched last year, said Cristian Cojocaru, head of telecom division within Samsung Electronics Romania, cited by local Wall-street.ro.

The pre-orders totaled a few thousands units, he added.

Samsung’s sales in Romania should increase by 10% following the launch of the new models, according to Cojocaru.

He expects the total smartphone sales in Romania to go over 4 million units this year, up from 3.5 million units in 2015. The premium smartphone sales should reach 30% of the total units sold.
