Porsche Romania increases sales by a quarter
Auto importer Porsche Romania increased its sales by 25% in the first six months of this year compared to the same period last year. The Volkswagen brand saw the biggest growth in sales, namely 50%, followed by Skoda sales, with a 15% annual growth, according to News.ro.
The best-selling passenger cars were Skoda Octavia, with 1,766 units sold, followed by Skoda Rapid, with 1,180 units and Volkswagen Golf, with 1,000 units between January and June this year.
Lifting the environment fee led to higher imports of used cars. On the long-term this trend will reconfigure the industry and will have a negative impact on both car fleet aging and air pollution, because most second-hand cars are older than nine years, said the Porsche Romania general director Brent Valmar.
