Only three Romanian-owned companies in top 100 exporters
Romania’s top 100 exporters includes only three companies with Romanian capital, said Mihai Daraban, President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
The country has about 22,000 exporters, but the biggest 1,000 hold 82.4% of the total exports. The top five companies hold 14.4% of the exports.
The trade with the European Union reached a certain saturation, and Romania needs to find new outlet markets outside the EU, Daraban said. Some 70% of Romania’s exports currently go to EU member states.
Romania’s exports reached EUR 52.5 billion in 2014, a 5.8% increase compared to 2013. Exports to the EU were EUR 37.3 billion, up by 8.1% year-on-year, and exports outside the EU increased by less than 1%, to EUR 15.2 billion.
