Only 6% of Bucharest’s residents are happy with the public transport

29 March 2016

Bucharest’s residents are the European citizens least satisfied with the public transportation in their city, according to a project of the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung Romania foundation.

Only 6% of Bucharest’s inhabitants are satisfied about the public transport in their city. By comparison, 46% of the people in Berlin are happy with the public transport in their city, followed by London (43%), Stockholm (31%), Athens (27%), and Madrid (26%).

The people living in cities where public transport operates properly prefer using the public transport to driving a car. However, those living in cities with less developed public transport prefer using their personal cars.

In Bucharest, there are 446 cars for 1,000 residents, more than in Stockholm (393), Berlin (333), and London (301). This also makes Bucharest one of the cities where people spend most time in traffic.
