Old postcards showing architecture of Bucharest "the Little Paris" going on exhibition in Brussels

10 June 2013

The Romanian Cultural Institute (ICR) in Brussels is organizing an exhibition of old Romanian postcards, starting today (June 10) and running until June 25. The postcards feature Bucharest architecture and date from the early 20th Century and the inter-war period, and will be on display at the EuropaNova bookshop in Brussels ( Clos du Parnasse 3, B-1050). The exhibition will also include some original works by late Romanian graphic designer and painter Tia Pelz.

The exhibition opens this evening (June 10) with projections of postcards accompanied by music written by Adrian Enescu.

The postcards illustrate the architectural heritage of the Romanian capital, which resulted in the city being nicknamed “Little Paris” or the Paris of the East. The exhibits are from private collections, with the majority coming Sorin Radulescu's collection.

The exhibition is supported by the Brussels Department for Monuments.
