Medieval castle in Romania goes back in time during Dracula Festival this May

25 March 2015

Medieval competitions, archery, fights between knights, sword lessons, a ball and Dracula’s story told by Bram Stoker's great-grandson. All that and more will be part of Dracula Festival’s program, an event organized at Corvinilor Castle in Hunedoara, Romania, on May 2 and May 3.

The event tries to combine myth and reality in a medieval atmosphere sprinkled with history and legends.

“In the first day of the event, the tourists will hear Dracula’s story said by Dacre Stoker, the great-grandson of Bram Stoker – creator of the Dracula myth,” said Teodorov Alexandru Valentin, organizer of the festival, cited by local Mediafax.

The festival will continue with a medieval play, a classical music concert, and a documentary on the life of Vlad Tepes, the Romanian prince who inspired the myth of Dracula. The day will end with a special ball where a medieval outfit is a must.

The second day of the event will focus on medieval activities such as archery and jousting.

The Corvinilor Castle will also host the European Fair of Castles between May 1 and May 3. A total of 21 representatives of historical monuments in Europe confirmed their presence at the event.

The exhibitors will present their tourist offers as well as the main elements and historical tourist attractions. The fair aims to promote the beauty of historical monuments in Europe.
