Tender for key 2.13 km tunnels along Lugoj-Deva motorway relaunched

06 April 2022

The tender for a key 9-km long segment of the Lugoj-Deva motorway in southwestern Romania, estimated to cost EUR 325 mln (VAT included), was relaunched, minister of transport Sorin Grindeanu announced.

The cost of the section between Margina (Timiș county) and Holdea (Hunedoara county), part of the 2nd section of the A1 Lugoj - Deva motorway, measuring only 9.13 km, is particularly large due to the two tunnels that measure together 2.13 km.

On March 10, the National Road Infrastructure Management Company (CNAIR) announced the technical bid submitted by a Turkish association for the design and execution of section E and completion of section D of the 2nd segment of the Lugoj - Deva highway is non-compliant, so the tender will be resumed, Profit.ro reported.

Funding is provided under the National Relaunch and Resilience Plan (PNRR), and the deadline for completing the works is 2026.
