JP Morgan executive to lead Foreign Investments Department in Romania

Romanian Prime Minister Dacian Ciolos has appointed Manuel Costescu as the head of the Department for Foreign Investments and Public-Private Partnership, reports local Profit.ro.

Costescu, 40, has been an Executive Director of US bank JP Morgan’s London subsidiary. He was in charge of the bank’s business with state institutions such as central banks, development banks, treasuries, and government agencies.

Before joining JP Morgan, Costescu had his own consultancy firm in London. He had also worked for McKinsey, in the New York office, or the US energy consultancy firm The Brattle Group.

Costescu has an MBA from the Sloan School of Management within the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He has also finished the master course in international development from Kennedy School of Government within the Harvard University.

The Department for Foreign Investments will become part of the Economy Ministry, said Dragos Tudorache, head of the Head of Prime Minister's Chancellery.
