Japanese Film Festival starts this week in Bucharest

This year’s edition of the Japanese Film Festival will take place at Cinemateca Romana in Bucharest between September 17 and September 22. The event’s program includes six films, each of them to be screened starting 19:00.

Japanese film fans can see Kencho Omotenashi Ka’s Hospitality Department on September 17, and Yasuo Furuhata’s Dearest the next day, on September 18. Both films will have Romanian translation.

Animated film FriendsNaki ofMonster Island, directed by Takashi Yamazaki and Ryuichi Yagi, will be screened on September 19, while Keishi Ohtomo’s Platinum Data will be screened on September 20. The festival continues on September 21 with the screening of Japanese war drama film A Boy Called H, directed by Yasuo Furuhata. Fruits of Faith, directed by Yoshihiro Nakamura, will be screened in the last day of the festival. All four films will have English translation.

The event is organized by the Japanese Embassy to Bucharest, Japonia Foundation, and Cinemateca Romana. Access to the event is free.
