International competition within George Enescu festival to be held this fall in Romania

The international competition for cello, composition, violin and piano within the George Enescu festival, which did not take place in 2013 together with the festival, will take place in the fall of 2014 in Bucharest. From then on, the festival and the international competition will take place every two years, but on alternate years.

The competition will take place between September 8 and 27 this year in Bucharest, and is open to all participants born after August 1, 1980. Candidates have to submit their applications by July 1, 2014, postal date, together with a copy of their birth certificate, their CV, two recent photos, a reccommendation from a known professor, the filled in application and the proof of paying the participation tax of EUR 100 for piano, cello and violin, and EUR 50 per composition.

Documents should be sent via post to the address 155 Calea Victoriei, bl. D1, sc. 8, Fl. 2, District 1, 010073, Bucharest, pr by e-mail at artexim@rdslink.ro, mentioning “ For the International Competition George Enescu”. Acceptations or refusals will be sent to candidates by August 1.

The first prize of the competition will be of EUR 15,000, the second prize, EUR 10,000, and the third prize, EUR 5,000. For the composition section, the prize for symphonic music will be of EUR 10,000, and the one for chamber music, of EUR 7,000.

The international competition was not held last year together with the George Enescu festival for financial reasons. The organizers then decided to re-think the structure and to have the festival and the international competition in alternating years.
