21 August 2026

Trade between Romania and the United States exceeded USD 7.8 billion in 2025, continuing the upward trend recorded in recent years, the Romanian Embassy in the US announced on Thursday, August 20, in a post on its Facebook page

“Romania’s exports to the US reached USD 5 billion, compared with USD 3.4 billion in 2021, while imports totaled USD 2.8 billion. Romania thus recorded a surplus in its bilateral trade with the country. Among the main export categories are industrial equipment, automotive industry products and consumer goods, alongside IT services and business services,” the same source said, citing data from the US Department of Commerce, Bureau of Economic Analysis.

The current level of trade places Romania ahead of countries such as Lithuania (approximately USD 5.2 billion in trade with the US), Bulgaria and Slovenia (USD 4 billion), and Croatia (USD 3 billion).

At the same time, economies such as Poland (USD 39 billion), Hungary (USD 8 billion) and the Czech Republic (USD 16.6 billion) continue to record higher total volumes.

“The data indicate a gradual diversification of the economic relationship between Romania and the United States and the existence of additional potential for cooperation in industry, technology, services and within transatlantic supply chains,” the Romanian Embassy in the US also said.
