Hamilton Central Europe opens new facility in western Romania after EUR 10 mln investment

09 November 2015

Swiss technology company Hamilton Central Europe inaugurated a new facility in Romania last week. The new unit, which required an investment of EUR 10 mln and covers 9.5 hectares, is located in Giarmata, Timis county, in western Romania.

In Romania, Hamilton started producing components for microliter syringes in 2013, in Timisoara. With this facility’s opening, Romania became the second country in Europe, after Switzerland, where Hamilton carries out production activities.

At the new facility’s inauguration, company representatives also said that the company was ready to invest in increasing and training its local team.

“The facility in Timisoara currently has 86 employees who work as operators, engineers, technicians and logisticians, and we want to increase the number to 200 in the next two years, a significant percentage targeting research and development,” said Ciprian Ractei, Plant Operation Manager, Hamilton Central Europe SRL.

The company is also recruiting for the new facility in Romania.

Moreover, Hamilton Central Europe plans to increase the range of products manufactured in Romania.

“We will keep thinking to expand the portfolio of products destined to laboratories and research because we want to increase vertically the products made in Romania,” said Ciprian Ractei.

Hamilton currently has 1,400 employees in the facilities in Bornaduz, Reno, Boston, Franklin, Massachusetts, and Timisoara. The company designs and builds equipment focused on four large categories: microliter syringes, sensors, medical equipment, and robotics elements.
