Romanian Govt. pays EUR 50 mln to complete blocked EU-funded water distribution projects
The Government will allocate over RON 250 mln (EUR 50 mln), not including the VAT, for the completion of 26 projects related to water infrastructure that are partly financed from the European Union’s budget, spokesman Dan Cărbunaru announced, News.ro reported.
The Government thus avoids losing the EU funds disbursed under the 2014-2020 financial framework.
The most likely cause of the situation that was close to the blocking of the 26 projects is the rise in the price of the construction materials, which resulted in insufficient budgets for the projects.
