German FinMin & Romanian President talk about Schengen

President Klaus Iohannis met on Monday, March 9, German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier at the Cotroceni Palace in Bucharest and talked about Romania’s accession to the Schengen area.

The German official said that a solution needs to be identified to allow progress in achieving this goal.

Iohannis added that Germany continues to be Romania’s most important commercial partner and that he hopes Romania would attract new German investors.

The two also talked about the importance of supporting the Republic of Moldova’s European aspirations, as well as about the evolution in Ukraine and the West Balkans.
