The number of tourists registered in Romania in the first seven months of this year, for arrivals and overnight stays, increased by 12.6 percent, compared with the same period of last year. There were 4.1 million arrivals and 10 million overnight stays, the National Statistic Institute (INS) announced today (September 3 ).

The arrivals of foreign visitors to Romania registered at border crossings were 4.4 million, up 4.1 percent. Most of the foreign visitors came from European countries, most of them being from Hungary (33.5 percent), Bulgaria (20.2 percent), Germany (9.2 percent), Italy (7.2 percent), Poland (6 percent) and Austria (4.5 percent).

Departures of Romanian visitors abroad registered at border crossings were 6.2 million, up 0.5 percent.

In July, compared with the same month in 2011, the arrivals and overnight stays in tourist accommodation increased by 12.5 percent.
