Over 1,400 French citizens in Romania and the Republic of Moldova voted on Sunday in the second round of the presidential elections in France, with most of them opting for Emmanuel Macron, according to data posted on the website of the Embassy of France to Bucharest.

A total of 2,557 voters were registered at the consular district of the French Embassy in Bucharest (Romania and Republic of Moldova). Over 1,400 of them voted in the second round of the presidential elections, meaning that the participation rate amounted to 55.5%.

Over 88% of the votes cast were for Emmanuel Macron, who won the presidential elections in France and became the youngest President in the country’s history, while 11.8% were for the extreme-right candidate Marine Le Pen.

According to the French Embassy, these results are provisional.
