Electro-IT manufacturing turns into second growth driver for Romania's exports

07 April 2022

Although it accounts for only EUR 2 bln out of Romania's EUR 75 bln total exports, the sector of electronics and household appliances manufacturing is turning into the second growth driver after the automobile industry (which accounts for half of the total exports) thanks to the significant investments in several production facilities, daily Ziarul Financiar concludes.

The production of refrigerators, stoves, espresso machines and televisions is emerging as Romania's second industrial engine for export, after cars.

Only last year, two major investment projects were carried out in the sector: Haier's TV factory and the second vacuum cleaners manufacturing unit of Kärcher.

These manufacturing units will generate exports starting this year.

At the same time or in the following years, other factories will reach maximum production capacities, such as the Arctic factory in Ulmi (where it produces washing machines) or De'Longhi's factory in Bihor.
