Danish group starts building EUR 50 mln rock wool factory in Romania

25 July 2018

Danish group Rockwool has started the construction of its new factory in Romania, in Prahova county, which will require an investment of EUR 50 million. The group has selected local construction company CON-A for this project. Engineering company Blue Projects will provide supervision and site management services.

Rockwool’s stone wool factory will be located on a 30-hectare land plot in the Ploiesti West Park, in Aricestii Rahtivari commune near Ploiesti. The factory will create about 150 direct jobs and another 300 indirect jobs for services and logistics.

Stone wool production at the factory will start in 2019. Most of the raw materials will be sourced from Romania.

The new factory will allow Rockwool to serve its local clients faster as the demand for thermal insulation materials on the Romanian market has been growing, according to Florin Popescu, Business Unit Director at Rockwool Balkans.

The Danish group announced this investment last year, as part of a wider plan to open new production capacities in US, Sweden and Romania.
